Environmental Education & Empowerment

Since it’s founding over a decade ago IslandWood have been a spark of inspiration for thousands of elementary students and a foundational experience for hundreds of graduate students. Their work has branched out from their Bainbridge Island campus into urban settings around the Seattle area.

We have enjoyed our work with IslandWood, telling stories of how they do their amazing work connecting with third and fourth graders from around Puget Sound, and how their partnership with the UW College of Education has provided unmatched environmental teaching experience for grad students.

As IslandWood looks ahead, imagining how best to serve the needs of a growing region and a changing world, they took a moment to reflect on their journey. In the resulting film, 10 Years Later, former students and grad students talk about the impact IslandWood has had for themselves, their careers, and their connection to the world around them.
