Northwest African American Museum

Celebrating Culture, Heritage and a Legend

Quincy Jones. Q. He is a musician, composer, arranger, conductor, record producer, tv and film producer, magazine founder, and more. He is also a global humanitarian.

The brand new Northwest African American Museum wanted to introduce itself and its vision of the Pacific Northwest as a place where the histories, art and culture of people of African decent are embraced as an essential part of our shared heritage and future. They felt that Quincy, who lived in Seattle from elementary school through college, was the embodiment of that vision, and wanted to honor him with their inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award.

Jones was visibly moved as he walked from the audience to the stage to accept his award.

For the presentation, at the historic Paramount Theater, we wrote and designed a program that celebrated both his music and his humanitarian work. It was a beautiful evening with brilliant performances from local musicians to Carlos Santana. Quincy was moved to tears, and the world was introduced to NAAM.
