Our favorite part of telling stories is listening to others tell their stories. As part of our work for the Tacoma Art Museum we spent an entire day hearing about TAM’s new collection of art of the American west. We spoke with TAM’s Executive Director Stephanie Stebich, Chief Curator Rock Hushka, Curator of Western American Art Laura Fry, and community leader Lyle Quasim.

We heard about how the collection came to be, how it landed at TAM, the significance of western art today, and Tacoma’s rising position as a leader in arts and culture.

With the collection and its new home, the Haub Family Galleries, being readied for the grand opening, we are all excited by this opportunity to get to learn so much about the collection and its relevance to its new home. Here’s another article with images of the new wing nearly completed.
