The Paramount Theater was hoppin’ last night for a three-hour celebration of Quincy Jones. As part of the grand opening celebration of the Northwest African American Museum Quincy was honored with the inaugural NAAM Lifetime Achievement Award. We wrote and designed the program that celebrated both his music and his humanitarian work. It was a beautiful evening.

In an evening filled with special moments from Buddy Catlett, James Ingram, Ernestine Anderson and Carlos Santana. Some of our favorite parts were the performances from local heroes like the Garfield High School Jazz Band, led by Clarence Acox and the DJ driven performance we curated featuring DJ DV One and Garfield horn players Zubin Hensler and Robert Struthers. And maybe, the most memorable was getting to create a short video featuring national treasure Maya Angelou.
